6P4 Lesson 1
-
7P4 Lesson 2
This week (Lesson 2), we will continue with Whole Numbers 2.
In this week's lesson, we will focus on 2 concepts.
- Comparison of Quantity
- Comparison of Quantity and Units
The concepts of Comparison of Quantity and Comparison of Units are very similar. Students tend to mix them up. For example, John is 3 more than Peter (Comparison of Quantity) vs. John is 3 times Peter (Comparison of units). Questions become even more complex when we combine the two concepts into a single question.
-
8P4 Lesson 3
This week (Lesson 3), we will continue with Whole Numbers 3.
In this week's lesson, we are working on 2 concepts
- Comparison of Quantity
- Comparison of Quantity and units
In Primary 3, the students were taught Comparison of Quantity (e.g 3 more) and Comparison of Units (e.g 3 times). This lesson will combine these two concepts in the same question.
-
9P4 Lesson 4
This week (Lesson 4), we will continue with Whole Numbers 4.
In this lesson, we focus on two concepts
- Intervals Concepts
- Grouping
Students will learn to calculate intervals from the middle of a string of patterns and the concept of "cuts/slices" as intervals.
This week is the last lesson for 2022. We will like to take this opportunity to wish all parents and students a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
-
10P4 Lesson 5
This week (Lesson 5), we will continue with Whole Numbers 5.
We will cover 2 concepts
1. Intervals Concepts
2. Grouping
The basics of Intervals concepts and Grouping were taught in P3. The interval concept problem sums for P4 will have intervals and dividers represented by objects (e.g.beads) instead of length (e.g. 5 cm). We will also introduce the Concept of “cuts/slice” as intervals.
-
11P4 Lesson 6
This week, we will be continuing our study of Whole Numbers with Lesson 6. The main focus of this lesson will be the concept of External Transfer. We will be covering two variations of this concept: External Transfer given difference and External Transfer given units. These variations are often included in exams to test students' reasoning and model drawing abilities.

12P4 Lesson 7
-
13P4 Lesson 8
-
14P4 Lesson 9
This week (Lesson 9) and the next, we will revise all the taught concepts. In this revision lesson, we will focus on
- 4 Operations
- Comparison of quantity
- Comparison of quantity and units
- Stacking models
- Supposition
- External transfer
-
15P4 Lesson 10
This week (Lesson 10), we will continue to revise the concepts taught in previous lessons. The concepts we will cover are as follows:
> Factors and multiples
> External transfers
> Internal transfers
-
16P4 Lesson 11
This week, we will revisit the concepts taught in previous lessons with our students. The revision session will concentrate on three main areas:
- Factors and multiples
- External transfers, and
- Internal transfers
These topics are frequently tested, and we will continue to focus on similar questions in future lessons.
-
17P4 Lesson 12
The lesson includes a continuation of Whole Numbers and an introduction of Geometry.
In Whole Numbers, our focus will be on the concept of Shortage and Surplus. This is a crucial topic that schools typically test in three ways:
- Listing without fixed groups
- Listing with a fixed number of groups, and
- Units method.
Students will be taught these three approaches to problem-solving, which will be relevant not only for their current level but also for Primary 5 and 6. We recommend that your child keep this week's worksheet for future reference and revision.
In addition to Whole Numbers, we will also be introducing Geometry. In this lesson, students will learn how to use a set square, protractor, and ruler. All students must attend this lesson at the centre. Please bring along a protractor.
-
18P4 Lesson 13
In this week's lesson (Lesson 13), we will continue with Geometry 2.
The focus of this lesson is on angles. The concepts we will cover are:
- Angles at a point.
- Angles involving properties of Squares and Rectangles.
- 8-Point Compass.
8-Point Compass questions are commonly tested. We have thus designed these questions with greater complexity.
-
19P4 Lesson 14
Next week, we'll continue with Geometry 2 and focus on angles. Here's what we'll be covering:
- Angles at a point.
- Angles involving properties of squares and rectangles.
- 8-Point Compass.
Please note that 8-Point Compass questions are commonly tested, so we've designed these questions with a bit more complexity to challenge the students.
-
20P4 Lesson 15
This week (Lesson 14), we will begin with Fractions 1.
Next week, we will be in starting on Fractions. Fraction is an important topic for Primary 4. In this lesson, we will begin with the fundamentals of Fractions.
We cover the following:
- Equivalent fractions
- Mixed numbers and improper fractions
- Comparing and ordering of fractions
We have included many practices in this lesson and additional practice as homework.
-
21P4 Lesson 16
This week (Lesson 16), we will continue with Fraction 3.
The main focus of this lesson is the concept of Remainder Theory. *Remainder Theory* is under the “Part and Whole” concept. Such questions only appear in fractions and involve splitting parts into other smaller parts.
This is an essential concept, and we are confident that it will be tested.
