This week (Lesson 2), we will continue with Whole Numbers 2.

In this lesson, we will focus on math operations involving

> Missing numbers

> Multiplication and divisions

> Place values

This week (Lesson 3), we will continue with Whole Numbers 3.

In this lesson, we will cover

1. Problem sums relating to Part and Whole Concepts.
2. Problem sums involving Ordinal Numbers.

A greater focus will be on Ordinal Numbers as this is new to most Primary 2 students.

This week (Lesson 4), we will continue with Whole Numbers 4.

In this lesson, we will teach the concepts of finding ways of arrangement.

Students will be taught logical thinking skills to arrange groups in different permutations. The concepts covered are

1. Finding the number of ways involving one group
2. Finding the number of ways involving two groups.

This week is the last lesson for 2022. We will like to take this opportunity to wish all parents and students a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 

This week (Lesson 5), we will continue with Whole Numbers 5.

In this lesson, we will be focusing on Total Concepts and their variants. Total Concept is a term we coined for Problem Sums involving multiplications and division. Multiplication problem sums can be categorised into 3 types.

1. Total = number of groups x no of items in one group
2. No of groups = Total / no of items in one group
3. No of items in one group = Total / no of groups

The children must understand the different ways "Total Concepts" can be tested. Such exposure will help to minimise careless mistakes and mistakes due to rote learning (memorising steps).

This week, we will be covering Lesson 6, which focuses on Whole Numbers. Specifically, we will be introducing the concept of the supposition method, also known as the assumption method. For Primary 2 students, we will be using diagrams to help illustrate this concept. Please don't worry if your child is initially confused by this material - the goal of this lesson is to simply introduce the concept and encourage children to approach problem-solving in a new way.

In addition to the supposition method, this lesson will also cover three types of "comparison of quantities" questions.

Next week, in Lesson 7, your child will be learning one of the most common problem sums concepts in Primary 2: the concept of comparison by quantity and comparison by units.

These two concepts may seem similar, and it is common for students to confuse them. We have intentionally placed these two concepts in the same lesson to help your child understand the fine difference between them. We believe that by learning these concepts in tandem, your child will have a better understanding and be able to apply them correctly in problem solving.

We wanted to update you on what your child will be learning next week in class. They will be continuing with lesson 8 on whole numbers. As a reminder, this week we covered the concepts of "comparison of quantities" and "comparison of units." Next week, we will be challenging the students by incorporating these concepts into a single question, which is not something typically covered in other schools.

Please do not be too concerned if your child struggles a little with this week's lesson, as it is intended to stretch their understanding. We will also be working on teaching the children how to interpret the sequence of events in a math problem and translate them into numerical statements.

This week (Lesson 9) and the next, we will revise all the concepts we have taught. In this revision lesson, we will focus on

1. 4 Operations
2. Part and whole
3. Finding the number of ways
4. Ordinal numbers
5. Total concept

We will cover the topic of Length.

We will be introducing problem sums related to the topic of Length, specifically focusing on Interval Concepts. These types of problem sums are often referred to as "Flag Post" questions. They are an essential concept for students to master, as they will continue to be tested throughout their academic journey, starting from Primary 3 and beyond.

In this week's lesson, we will continue with Length Lesson 3.

The concepts we will cover include:

1. Comparison of quantity, given information on group and difference.
2. Comparison of quantity, given information on total and difference.
3. Comparison of quantity, given information on total and difference of 3 groups.

Concept 2 can be considered a "staple" heuristic concept as it is commonly tested and incorporated in many problem sums. As such, we have provided more practice questions for this concept.

Concept 3 is considered difficult for Primary 2 students. We have pre-drawn the models for this series of questions to help guide the students.

In this week (Lesson 14), we will continue with Length Lesson 4.

The concepts we will cover include

1. Comparison of units

2. Working backwards

3. Properties of squares

This week (Lesson 15), we will begin with Mass Lesson 1.

In this lesson, we will teach the basics of Mass.

1. Reading weighing scales

2. Comparing and ordering of Mass

3. Comparing objects in terms of Mass

Although this series of questions are considered basic Mass concepts, they are commonly tested based on our analysis of past year school papers.

This week (Lesson 16), we will continue with Mass lesson 2.

This lesson will be about the comparison of mass. The questions in this lesson are graphical and are intended to train the students' reasoning skills.

This lesson (Lesson 49), will be the final lesson for 2022 academic year. Next week we will begin with the Primary 2 syllabus.
